Underground Kenpo Academy

Located in Historic downtown Buford, GA is a martial arts school that teaches  American Kenpo Karate and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.

We have programs for children ages 5 years old and up in Kenpo Karate and  Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.

American Kenpo Karate is a Hawaiian martial art brought to mainland America by Ed Parker in the late 50's.  The art uses realistic street defensive tactics to overwhelm an attacker. Primarily a standup style it uses rapid fire strikes, nerve and limb destruction, joint manipulation and groin erradication in order to neutralize an attacker. American Kenpo is a self defense art not a tournament art.

Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is a martial art, combat sport, and self defense system made popular by Helio Gracie in Brazil, that focuses on grappling and especially ground fighting.

At Underground Kenpo Academy Jiu Jitsu is taught using the Gi (Kimono) and no Gi. Our youth programs are designed to be fun and focus on sport grappling with a points structure.  Our children compete in local grappling tournaments but is not required by the school.

Our adult program is designed primarily for self defense and does not focus on sport grappling or tournaments. The emphasis for adults is placed on using BJJ for street defense and providing an injury free workout for working adults.

Our goal is to develop your children into martial artists not cage fighters.  We teach respect, discipline, self control and confidence.  We also teach how, where and  when to fight and when not to fight and run.

Underground Kenpo Academy is part of the Hawaiian American Combative Arts Organization (HACAO) and the Edson Diniz Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Association.
